According to a statement released by the PGA Tour on behalf of Scheffler, the star golfer suffered the injury while preparing dinner on Christmas Day.

“Scottie sustained a puncture wound to the palm of his right hand from a broken glass,” the statement read.

“Small glass fragments remained in the palm which required surgery.

“He has been told that he should be 100% in three to four weeks.”

The setback means Scheffler will miss The Sentry in Hawaii from January 2-5 but is set to return for The American Express tournament starting on January 16.

The injury occurred just a week after Scheffler and Rory McIlroy teamed up to defeat LIV stars Bryson Dechambeau and Brooks Koepka in The Showdown match-play exhibition under lights in Las Vegas.
