Darnold signs with Seahawks on 100M deal | 00:54
To say it’s been a busy past four days in the NFL world would be an understatement.
This week, the 2025 League Year began marking the Free Agency signing period as well.
A raft of massive moves have been made, with plenty of big names switching teams.
Here’s a wrap of all the big moves during NFL free agency so far! (All in $USD).
QUARTERBACK
Sam Darnold (Seattle Seahawks)
Previous team – Minnesota Vikings
After a career-best season for the Vikings last year, Sam Darnold has a new home.
Darnold and the Seahawks reach an agreement on a three-year, $110.5 million contract including $55 million guaranteed. He’ll be Geno Smith’s successor with Smith shipped off to the Las Vegas Raiders just before free agency.
It is a gamble of sorts for the Seahawks given the state of their offensive line, although Darnold is a strong fit in new offensive co-ordinator Klint Kubiak’s system.
Justin Fields (New York Jets)
Previous team – Pittsburgh Steelers
The former Bears and Steelers QB agreed to a two-year, $40 million deal that includes $30 million guaranteed with the New York Jets.
Fields will replace Aaron Rodgers, who was released by the Jets.
Daniel Jones (Indianapolis Colts)
Previous team: NY Giants
Signed by the Colts to compete with young QB Anthony Richardson in an ultimatum to the former fourth overall pick — beat out Jones, or the Colts will move on.
Jones’ deal with Indy is worth $14 million for one season.
Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson
Still yet to be signed although the Steelers and Giants are said to be the most interested in the 41-year-old Rodgers, while Wilson met with the Browns on Friday and is set to travel to New York to meet with the Giants on Saturday.
Mac Jones (San Francisco 49ers)
Previous team: Jacksonville Jaguars
RUNNING BACK
Najee Harris (LA Chargers)
Previous team: Pittsburgh Steelers
Najee Harris joins the Chargers’ already deep rushing corps on a one-year deal worth up to $9.25 million, per NFL Network.
The 27-year-old has eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark in each of his four pro seasons, all with the Steelers, accumulating 1,043 yards on 263 carries in 2025, adding six rushing touchdowns. He added an extra 283 receiving yards — but for the second straight season failed to find pay dirt through the air.
He’ll join a team that lost in the wild card round in Jim Harbaugh’s first season at the helm.
Javonte Williams (Dallas Cowboys)
Previous team: Denver Broncos
There’s no other team that needs running back help more in the league than Dallas, and in a move that should appease their fans, they’ve signed former Bronco Javonte Williams to a one-year deal.
Williams is a versatile commodity who fell down the pecking order in Denver.
Aaron Jones (re-signed with Minnesota Vikings)
Rico Dowdle (Carolina Panthers)
Previous team: Dallas Cowboys
WIDE RECEIVER
Davante Adams (LA Rams)
Previous team: New York Jets
Davante Adams is heading to the West Coast — and it won’t be for another Aaron Rodgers reunion.
The wide receiver, who spent the final 11 games of the 2024 season with the Jets after they acquired him from the Raiders to pair with Rodgers, inked a two-year, $46 million deal — with $26 million of that money guaranteed — with the Rams, according to multiple reports Sunday.
DK Metcalf (Pittsburgh Steelers)
Previous team: Seattle Seahawks
DK Metcalf is headed to the Steel City.
The Seahawks and Steelers pulled off a blockbuster trade that sent the star wide receiver to Pittsburgh in exchange for the Steelers second-round pick in this April’s draft, while Metcalf will get a brand-new five-year, $150 million contract from his new club, per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
The trade will also include the two teams swapping picks in the sixth and seventh rounds of this year’s draft, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported.
Josh Palmer (Buffalo Bills)
Previous team: LA Chargers
The Bills are signing receiver Josh Palmer to a three-year, $36 million deal, according to ESPN.
He hauled in 39 receptions for 584 yards and a touchdown last year with the Chargers.
Darius Slayton (re-signed with the New York Giants)
Darius Slayton will be back with the Giants next season on a three-year, $36 million deal, per multiple reports.
The veteran wideout was a 2019 Giants draft pick who saw his stats dip to 39 receptions for 573 yards and two touchdowns as the team struggled from QB on out.
At 28, he’s tied with Dexter Lawrence as the longest-tenured Giants player, though they’ve both seen little success at MetLife Stadium and beyond.
TIGHT END
Evan Engram (Denver Broncos)
Previous team: Jacksonville Jaguars
Surprisingly released prior to free agency by the Jaguars, who are attempting a complete rebuild seemingly, Engram didn’t have to wait long to find his next team with the Broncos offering him a two-year, $23 million deal.
OFFENSIVE LINE
Will Fries (Minnesota Vikings)
Previous team: Indianapolis Colts
Aaron Banks (Green Bay Packers)
Previous team: San Francisco 49ers
Morgan Moses (New England Patriots)
Previous team: Baltimore Ravens
Dan Moore Jr. (Tennessee Titans)
Previous team: Pittsburgh Steelers
Patrick Mekari (Jacksonville Jaguars)
Previous team: Baltimore Ravens
Drew Dalman (Chicago Bears)
Previous team: Atlanta Falcons
Ronnie Stanley (re-signed with Baltimore Ravens)
DEFENSE
Josh Sweat (Arizona Cardinals)
Previous team: Philadelphia Eagles
Joey Bosa (Buffalo Bills)
Previous team: LA Chargers
DeMarcus Lawrence (Seattle Seahawks)
Previous team: Dallas Cowboys
Seattle is set to sign defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence on a three-year, $42 million contract, according to multiple reports.
The deal includes $18 million guaranteed, NFL Network reported.
Lawrence spent his first 11 years in the league with the Cowboys after being a second-round selection in the 2014 draft.
Milton Williams (New England Patriots)
Previous team: Philadelphia Eagles
Earlier reports had linked Milton Williams to the Panthers but he just agreed to sign with the Patriots.
Williams was prolific for the Eagles in the playoffs, recording two sacks in the Super Bowl.
He joins New England on a four-year, $104 million deal.
Jonathan Allen (Minnesota Vikings)
Previous team: Washington Commanders
Grady Jarrett (Chicago Bears)
Previous team: Atlanta Falcons
Cut by the Falcons, defensive tackle Grady Jarrett is signing a three-year deal worth $43.5 million with the Bears.
He spent the last 10 years with the Falcons and is a two-time Pro Bowler.
Dre Greenlaw (Denver Broncos)
Previous team: San Francisco 49ers
Hours after agreeing to a deal with Talanoa Hufanga, the Broncos brought in linebacker Dre Greenlaw.
It’s been an offseason of turnover for San Francisco, which saw G Aaron Banks, CB Charvarius Ward, OT Jaylon Moore, RB, Elijah Mitchell and QB Josh Dobbs also hit the road out of town — exits that came on the heels of wideout Deebo Samuel get traded to the Commanders.
Charvarius Ward (Indianapolis Colts)
Previous team: San Francisco 49ers
Charvarius Ward will patrol the field for the Colts, thanks to a three-year deal worth up to $60 million.
The former 49ers cornerback also gets $35 million guaranteed and a $20 million signing bonus, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Ward’s deal follows several big-money deals for CBs on the opening day of free agency: Carlton Davis (3 years, $60M), Paulson Adebo (3 years, $54M), Nate Hobbs (4 years, $48M), DJ Reed (4 years, $48M) and Brandon Stephens (3 years, $36M) lead the way.
Carlton Davis (Green Bay Packers)
Previous team: Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Carlton Davis III has agreed to a three-year, $60 million contract with the Patriots. The deal includes $34.5 million fully guaranteed according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Nate Hobbs (Green Bay Packers)
Previous team: Las Vegas Raiders
The team will have to replace cornerback Nate Hobbs, however, after he took four years and $48 million from the Packers, with $16 million guaranteed, per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
Jevon Holland (NY Giants)
Previous team: Miami Dolphins
Cam Bynum (Indianapolis Colts)
Previous team: Minnesota Vikings
Justin Reid (New Orleans Saints)
Previous team: KC Chiefs
