Maloney, who last played for Catalans in the Super League in 2021, worked as an assistant coach for the North Queensland Cowboys under Todd Payten last season.
However, he was swiftly fired before the club’s finals campaign after being charged with drink driving.
Maloney has since moved back to NSW and in 2025, will play for the Ourimbah Wyoming Magpies first grade side on The Central Coast
He played under 17s and under 19s for the Magpies before forging out a very successful NRL career.
The Magpies announced the exciting news on social media over the weekend.
“With a bucketload of NRL experience, including two NRL premierships and 14 State of Origin games, Jimmy cannot wait for the 2025 season to start,” the post read.
“This is a huge opportunity for all our players to be mentored and play with one of the greats of the game.”
According to club treasurer Steve Dawson, Maloney is raring to go.
“He’s as fit as anything,” Dawson told Code Sports.
“The opportunity for our players to be mentored from a guy like Jimmy is a once in a lifetime thing.”
