Mansell was pictured by Channel 7 rumbling with a teammate on the Punt Road turf, ultimately having to be separated by teammate Sam Banks.

The 24-year-old half-forward had a career-best season in 2024, returning 21 goals from 21 senior games, and has been among the standouts this pre-season.

Less than a fortnight ago, dual premiership star Tom Lynch told Richmond Media that Mansell had “taken his training standards to another level” in preparation for the 2025 campaign.

“He works his backside off all the time, but he’s training really well, and he’s probably been the one to watch so far,” Lynch added.

Meanwhile, at Moorabbin, St Kilda defender Dougal Howard reportedly suffered a dislocated shoulder, while there’s also mystery surrounding young gun Mattaes Phillipou.

According to Nine’s Tom Morris, 28-year-old Howard will undergo scans tomorrow to determine the extent of the damage.

Howard played 15 games last season, the least since his first year at Moorabbin in 2020, and shapes as an important defensive piece after Josh Battle departed for Hawthorn in the off-season.

The 135-gamer figures to join first-year interceptor Alix Tauru, recovering from a back stress fracture, on the sidelines.

Morris also reported there were “concerns” around Phillipou, who didn’t train on Monday. The Saints were “tight-lipped” about Phillipou, per Morris, ahead of the club’s injury update on Tuesday.

Midfielder Paddy Dow also has an unclear timeline for return amid a lengthy recovery from a ‘traumatic’ knee issue, as does speedy wingman Liam Henry after off-season knee surgery.

Veteran West Coast midfielder Elliot Yeo has avoided an ACL rupture, but is in serious doubt for the club’s Round 1 clash after scans revealed a double blow from match simulation.

The 31-year-old went down last Friday and spent a considerable time being attended to after being tackled.

West Coast on Monday night confirmed Yeo had damaged the medial ligament in his knee, as well as syndesmosis issues.

“There are always risks involved as we increase the intensity at training to prepare for the season, and unfortunately Elliot has sustained injuries to his right knee and ankle,” West Coast football boss Gavin Bell said.

“We are working through his rehab program and a return-to-play timeline.

“At this stage, we’re hopeful he will be available in the early part of the season.”

The 212-gamer managed 20 games last season; his best return since the 2019 season. He signed a three-year contract extension early last season, taking his commitment to the end of 2027.

In Adelaide, livewire Izak Rankine has reportedly ‘sent a minor scare’ through pre-season training.

According to the Advertiser’s Simeon Thomas-Wilson, Rankine exited after picking up s left ankle ailment during a drill, before later returning to complete the session in steamy South Australian conditions.

Injury-wise, the Crows are largely healthy as they approach pre-season contests with Port Adelaide and Brisbane.

Ruckman Kieran Strachan is currently the only one set for an extended period out of the game, with off-season recruit Isaac Cumming making a return to main training after nursing a hamstring injury.

The speedy rebounder is no stranger to soft-tissue injuries, with a troublesome hamstring last year limiting him to six games in his final season with GWS.
