The Brisbane Lions are reportedly ‘eyeing’ West Coast Eagles co-captain Oscar Allen, following the retirement of premiership forward Joe Daniher.

Allen, who is eligible for free agency this year, is said to have ‘already spoken’ with the Lions, according to AFL Media’s Cal Twomey.
Twomey reports Allen and the Eagles have held extension talks for ‘some time’, with those conversations currently focussed on a ‘medium-term’ deal.
The 25-year-old, who managed just 11 games last season due to a troublesome knee issue, returned 53 majors in a career-best 2023 campaign.
Reports late last year claimed Allen’s knee had ‘degenerated’ as a result of his ailment, but he returned in Round 15 to play all 10 of the Eagles’ remaining matches. West Coast drafted key forward Jobe Shanahan at No. 30 in last November’s draft.
Brisbane has a Daniher-sized void to fill after the mercurial left-footer dropped jaws by hanging up his boots after the Lions’ flag triumph last September.
Looking to bolster their forward stocks, the Lions added foundation Gold Coast forward Sam Day in last November’s pre-season draft, after he was earlier delisted by the Suns.
Brisbane also boasts key forwards Eric Hipwood, the developing Logan Morris, swingman Darcy Gardiner, Brandon Ryan, Henry Smith and Luke Lloyd on its list.
Hipwood remains on a load management program as he recovers from off-season groin surgery, while Gardiner still has a way to go in his recovery from an ACL rupture last year.
The movement rumours have begun early this year, with Tuesday’s revelation following a Monday night report claiming Suns midfielder Matt Rowell is in Geelong’s sights.
