Three-time Super Bowl champion and two-time NFL MVP Patrick Mahomes and his Kansas City Chiefs are crumbling in New Orleans.

Kansas City was in search of a historic three-peat after winning consecutive titles but is instead getting flashbacks of its crushing defeat at the hands of Tom Brady’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2021 decider.
At half-time of Super Bowl LIX at the Caesars Superdome, the Philadelphia Eagles shut the Chiefs out 24-0 in a jaw-dropping scene, with superstar Mahomes afforded barely any time to think.
It was the third time a Mahomes-led offence was shut out in the first half.
In a 25-year low, in the first half, Mahomes fielded the lowest expected points added (EPA) per drop-back, -1.45, in a Super Bowl since 2000, per TruMedia.
His 34 passing yards from 14 attempts were a first-half career low. Mahomes threw two interceptions and was sacked three times for 13 yards. His passer rating at half-time was just 10.7.
The 29-year-old future Hall-of-Famer had perhaps the worst four-play stretch of his career starting at 8:38 in the second quarter.
Mahomes took sacks on first and second down before throwing an interception intended for DeAndre Hopkins, returned 38 yards for a touchdown by Eagles cornerback Cooper DeJean, making it 17-0.
Then, on his next drop-back, he took another sack. On the very next offensive play, the Texas Tech alum threw his second interception of the game, this time to Philadelphia linebacker Zack Baun.
It led to an AJ Brown touchdown reception to make it 24-0 with 1:35 left in the first half.
On their seventh drive of the half, Mahomes and the Chiefs went three-and-out to ensure they would remain shut out.
Mahomes crumbling under pressure and unable to find anywhere to go with the football was the story of the half. The Eagles’ interior wreckers Josh Sweat, Jalen Carter and Jalyx Hunt were the main culprits.
ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky described Carter as a “one-man wrecking crew”.
The 24-point deficit faced by Kansas City was one point shy of the biggest-ever half-time Super Bowl deficit faced by the Patriots in 2016.
