Retired NRL enforcer Aaron Woods has been travelling America to promote the Las Vegas rugby league extravaganza, revealing he even had a run-in with US President Donald Trump’s Secret Service guards.

The 33-year-old attended the iconic Daytona 500 over the weekend, preparing to take part in a grid walk to showcase the NRL’s venture set to take place at Allegiant Stadium on March 2.
Trump had already arrived at the venue, with security heightened to ensure the President’s safety as drivers posed alongside their vehicles in Florida.
“They’ve got eight million people watching in America, this was our big moment,” Woods said on Triple M’s Beau, Tarsh & Woodsy.
“We had to go outside the venue and then come back in again, we had to go through all the scanners and security guards… which is where all the Secret Service were.
“As we come in (to the venue), we go through the scanner, all good when we first got through, but then we had the rugby league ball with Trump’s name on it.”
That was where the trouble began.
“We weren’t allowed to take it (the ball) through because it was already blown up… we asked if we could deflate the ball, and they said no,” he explained.
“I was like, ‘C’mon man, what could it be?’. They said ‘it could be a bomb that you want to throw at President Trump’.
“I was like, ‘C’mon bro’… we gave them a little bit of cheek and so the secret service decided to pat me down.”

During the pat-down, Woods then referenced one of Australia’s most well-known news incidents — the ‘succulent Chinese meal’ man who was shown in a 1991 news segment.
“As he’s touched me down, he’s grabbed the old sausage and he was sort of doing the ‘succulent Chinese’ man, you know that guy?” Woods said.
“I was sort of (saying), ‘Did you touch my penis, sir?’ and he didn’t really get the joke.”
Luckily for Woods, he managed to keep the ball that sparked the bizarre interaction.
