AEW, the challenger brand to pro wrestling behemoth WWE, has moved the location of its first ever show in Australia.

On Wednesday afternoon it was announced AEW Grand Slam: Australia, which had been scheduled for Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium, has been moved to the Brisbane Entertainment Centre.

The event will still be held on Saturday February 15, 2025, with all ticket holders for the event to have tickets reissued for the new venue.

Suncorp Stadium has over 52,000 seats and likely could have had an even larger capacity for the event if desired with seats on the playing surface.

The move to the 13,500-capacity indoor venue, which hosts the NBL’s Brisbane Bullets, suggests ticket sales did not warrant the use of the stadium.

AEW will be the second major pro wrestling company to run a televised event at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre as WCW filmed the October 9, 2000 edition of Monday Nitro at the venue. WWE has also held house shows there.

Australian wrestlers like Kyle Fletcher and Toni Storm are expected to feature heavily at the event.

Tickets are available via Ticketek.
