NATHAN Walker just became the first Australian to suit up for an NHL game, and the Sydney-bred forward topped that off by scoring on debut.
The goal came in the second period, with Walker deflecting a shot from teammate Devante Smith-Pelly; his Capitals comfortably coming away with the 6-1 win over the Montreal Canadiens.

The 23-year-old was the first Australian player to be selected in the NHL Draft — taken 89th overall in 2014 — and has spent the majority of his professional career in the American Hockey League.
Walker was on the ice for more than 11 minutes in his debut, and his goal was celebrated by his family — who were in the crowd — as well as across social media.
Walker was born in Cardiff, United Kingdom, before his family emigrated to Australian when he was just two years old.
