It comes as Sharks chairman Steve Mace told The Sydney Morning Herald that the 25-year-old is “not going anywhere.”

Mulitalo comes off contract at the end of this season. It has been expected that he would re-sign with the Sharks — the club he’s played all of his 110 NRL games for — until a shock report last week revealed his services had been offered to the Broncos.

The star winger took to social media to address the report:

“I looked at that and had a laugh,” he said.

“I’ve made it clear to my management I obviously want to hopefully get something done here.

“I know it’s a business, I need to put food on my family, but I love this club to death, and hope it all falls into place.

“The main thing for me is to play footy. I have a team around me who know what my ambitions are and what I want to do in this game.

“I love this club, I’ve poured my heart into this place through the good times and bad times.”

While Mulitalo made a joke about playing halfback to earn a bigger pay cheque, he explained that when it comes to his next move, “there’s more to it than just money.”

“Success is a big part of it, and I’m at the point of my career now where championships matter. I see it [the potential] in this group here,” he added.

Mulitalo first joined the Sharks in 2017 to play for the SG Ball side. He quickly rose up the ranks to make his NRL debut two years later and has since become one of the club’s brightest stars.

And if it’s up to Mace, the New Zealand international will remain in the Shire.

“I’m close with Ronnie, he’s a part of the fabric of this club, and he’s not going anywhere,” he told the Herald.
