What’s scarier — facing an over from Brett Lee or stepping in the ring with Japanese world champion Naoya Inoue? Sam Goodman will soon be able to answer that question.

The 26-year-old Aussie star is set to do battle with Inoue on December 24, hoping to become the undisputed super bantamweight titleholder at the Ariake Arena in Tokyo.
But first, he took a trip to Adelaide to face up against Lee, one of cricket’s most feared and revered bowlers with a staggering 310 Test wickets and 380 ODI scalps.
“Just keep it simple, anything outside off I’m just leaving… in front of me, play the V,” Goodman said as he calculated how he would avoid being dismissed by Lee.
Then came the big moment, and Lee couldn’t help but have a jab at the man he was about to send the pink ball down at.
“Sammy said that if I hit him in the fingers, he was going to put one on my chin,” Lee said, to which Goodman replied: “Nice and full”.
And Lee did just that, ambling up to the crease before unleashing a yorker that struck Goodman’s middle stump. We’ve seen that before.
“I don’t think I connected with one, but I said that if he connected up here (my head) I’d have to connect with a few on his chin,” Goodman said.
“I got out safely unscathed, thank god.”
As the likes of Thachtana Luangphon and Mark Schleibs have seen — that’s not a fate that goes well for anyone.
Goodman holds a 19-0 record in his boxing career, with eight knockouts, and is looking to pull off on of the great Australian sporting upsets when he faces Inoue, considered by many as the world’s best boxer pound-for-pound.
