The Gold Coast Suns have unveiled a bold new guernsey for Gather Round, borrowing from the bright colours of their hometown and making AFL history.

The Suns will wear the first ever pink guernsey during their clash with North Melbourne at Barossa Park in Round 5.
It uses the same design as their new all-red home guernseys, which were divisive when released, but instead is primarily pink with black logos and features.
It evokes many of the pink buildings seen across the glitter strip.
“I think it’s a really fresh and modern design. We want to be fearless, and in order to do that, we have to stand out,” Suns captain Touk Miller said.
“It’s a bold move, it’s different and no one else is doing what we’re doing. We’re trying to separate ourselves from the rest of the pack and this is one way of doing just that.”
However pink and black outfits aren’t totally new for sports, with Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami jerseys becoming immensely popular, while the NBA’s Miami Heat have also worn multiple pink designs.
The NRL’s Penrith Panthers have worn pink guernseys for many years, including in their 2024 Grand Final win due to a clash with the Melbourne Storm.
“We are unapologetically bold in our ambitions to be a leading force in the AFL, to stand out from the crowd and this design is a reflection of how we’ve matured and evolved as a club,” Gold Coast SUNS CEO Mark Evans said.
“We’re fifteen years young in the AFL competition, we’re not steeped in tradition, and we need to embrace that and push the boundaries that others have set for us. It’s not like anything ever seen before in the AFL.”
