The club confirmed on Monday evening the 20-year-old was also charged with failing to comply with WA Police directions by not giving his personal details.

Ginbey was out on Saturday night when the incident took place.

He will appear in court later in January.

“The club has advised the AFL and, as the matter is now before the courts, will make no further comment at this time,” the Eagles said.

Ginbey was the No.9 pick in the 2022 draft and has played 40 AFL matches since his immediate debut in Round 1, 2023, including every game in the 2024 season.

He is a key member of the Eagles’ rebuild under new coach Andrew McQualter with the club having won just 10 games over the past three years.
