The Blues on Tuesday confirmed Walsh would be sidelined for at least the next month after suffering a hamstring strain at training on Monday.

The club said Walsh was expected to integrate back into the training program across the next two to three weeks.

It comes after Walsh missed the first four games in each of Carlton’s past two seasons due to a sore back, stemming from an injury suffered in late 2022.

Carlton opens its 2025 season in just under two months when it takes on Richmond at the MCG.

The Blues, who were hit hard by injuries during the latter stages of the 2024 season, have been closely managing several players across the summer, including Charlie Curnow (knee), Blake Acres (back) and Alex Cincotta (hip).

By the end of the 2024 season, Carlton had one of the biggest injury lists in the competition, missing several guns from its best 23 in the final few rounds as it narrowly avoided missing the top eight.

High performance manager Andrew Russell departed the Blues at the end of last season and was replaced by ex-Swans fitness boss Rob Inness after the former departed the club, while the club also parted ways with several injury prone-players such as Jack Martin, Caleb Marchbank and David Cuningham.
